Gerard Bodifée 0502
Question: That is like saying that the Now is eternal.Bodifée: It is the last chapter in my book: the Now is eternal, everything is now.
Question: Holding every moment of time, in the sense of eternal.
Bodifée: We still always live in the Now. We never live in the future, and never in the past. The future does not exist yet, and the past exists no more: the time is only ever now. But in our reality, the now holds so little. It is an infinitesimal point, which I can nevertheless transcend somewhat with my consciousness. I already live a little in the future: for example, we are conducting this interview with a project in mind. And we also hold the memory of what we have done in the past. So I carry within myself something of what is past, and something of what is yet to come. So my now already contains a bit more than the blip of the momentary, but it is still not much. I know very little of what the future will bring. And when we talk about God, then that is the Now which contains everything. Which holds within it the past and future in equal presence. Something which I too can do, to a very minor extent.
So yes, it is the eternal all-embracing Now, and it is this Now that we already know a little, because this is the joy of being human. We say: I am speaking of God while I cannot because God is total existence and I am only such a small part of it. And yes, I am small, but I am not nothing. So there is also an acknowledgement that I am already something, that I am already part of that Being. And once I realise this, it becomes a source of boundless joy. I am here, and I am growing, and I am a part of that Whole.
