They where the first ones to introduce logic into society.

If you look at the quality (of mind) of these people, ie. Lao Tze, Confucius, Mahavira, the Hebrew Prophets, you will find that they did much on the level of morals. But even nowadays you see that a lot of scientists have had mystical experiences: Pascal; Schrödinger wrote in his book “What is Life”  about his mystical experiences; Einstein called his form of religion "Cosmic religion"; Heisenberg experienced nirvikalpa samadhi -be it on a temporary basis, but nevertheless. The founders of the great religions, Moses, Buddha, Christ, Mahavira, Mohammed, St Paul: all where mystics . Great writers such as Dante, Rumi, Blake, Whitman, Tolstoy, Tagore, (again) all were great mystics. Emerson, Ghandi and Albert Schweitzer where mystics (as well). Albert Schweitzer called his philosophy "ethical mysticism".

So if you look at these people, you can see that their quality (of mind) was on a transpersonal level. I know that a lot of people will only look at their cognitive level. I do think that, even when you limit it to cognitive level, you would see that these people had extraordinary qualities and that much of what they brought forth was transrational (ie. extending beyond the normal cognitive level).

And I do think that the proof that mysticism is a higher form, a transrational form and not a prelogical form, that this proof can be found when we see the quality of these people as expressed in their writings, in their lifes, and their philosophies.
